XP Fax Software
Did you know that Windows XP comes with its own XP fax software? That’s right, yet, many owners of this operating system use – and even know the existence – of this cool little faxing application.
If you are still stuck with a fax machine, you can begin forgetting about it. Electronic faxing has many advantages the biggest ones are: no need to waste money on paper, no need to maintain and keep a special place for that chunky fax machine. So how do we take advantage of these XP fax program?
1. Open the Control Panel and then go to “Add or Remove Programs”.
2. The Program will be installed inside Accessories > Communications Tab on the Start Menu.
3. Next, click on “Add/Remove Windows Components” and select “Fax services” checking them both. The Wizard will start to guide you on the following steps.
This is a very helpful tool for communications, but as with any other software, you’ll need to get used to it. Microsoft offers a great guide to get you started using XP faxing software, you should bookmark that link until you get used to the features and requirements of the application.
To use this software, remember you will need a modem connected and configured on your computer. At the time of installation, that modem needs to be connected to the phone line jack. Now that you have your own faxing program, you will be able to fax documents stored on your PC, scanned documents and even fax directly from Outlook. Who said life couldn’t get any easier?
Why should you need then additional fax software or fax services? Well, the biggest reason is the lack of features of the XP program. Fax software services, like for example Ringcentral are all managed online from any computer and allow scheduling, detailed logs and even fax broadcasting. You can compare it to the XP solution by taking advantage of their free trial.
